Sex workers yesterday marked International Whores Day by marching on NSW Parliament House to demand anti-discrimination laws.

Carrying red umbrellas, dozens of sex workers called for greater protection from councils, banks and advertisers.

Sex workers are calling for anti-discrimination protection throughout Australia, Scarlet Alliance CEO Janelle Fawkes said.

Anti-discrimination protects sex workers from discrimination, however, sex workers are only included in two states.

Sex worker Ivy Macintosh said members of the profession were unfairly targeted by advertisers.

Sex work is legal in NSW so why am I charged hundreds of dollars to advertise in local papers when other trades are charged less than $100? she said.
