Oz Showbiz Cares/Equity Fights AIDS raised more than $54,000 for a handful of national HIV charities in a week.

The organisation held bucket collections outside performances of Wicked, Mamma Mia! and Cabaret in Sydney, and Jersey Boys and Chicago in Melbourne during AIDS Awareness Week.

The proceeds will be distributed between the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation, Australian AIDS South Africa and APHEDA projects in Papua New Guinea and the Victorian AIDS Council.

“Oz Showbiz Cares/Equity Fights AIDS would like to thank everyone involved and are now focusing on their annual Hats Off concert next February as featured in the Mardi Gras festival,” board member Laurence Stark said.

“Since its formation, OSC/EFA has raised more than $570,000 for critically needed services for people with AIDS, HIV and HIV-related illnesses from various fundraising events.”
