Caitlyn Jenner backs Donald Trump in US election
CAITLYN Jenner has come under fire after pledging her support to Donald Trump in the upcoming US Presidential election.
“I’m on the conservative Republican side,” Jenner told STAT News.
“I’m not excited with what Obama has done to the economy, to our Constitution, all that kind of stuff.
“But as far as the transgender community, they’ve actually been very good.”
Jenner’s Republican politics have never gone over particularly well with some in the LGBTI community, which was discussed time-and-time again on her docu-series I Am Cait.
“Everybody looks at the Democrats as being better with these issues,” Jenner said.
“But Trump seems to be very much for women.
“He seems very much behind the LGBT community because of what happened in North Carolina with the bathroom issue. He backed the LGBT community.”
She was referring to Trump’s stance on the controversial North Carolina bathroom bill. He was of the opinion that trans folk should be able to use whatever bathroom they want.
Jenner went on to give a final assessment on the Republican and Democrat nominees.
“In Trump’s case, there’s a lot more unknowns,” Jenner said.
“With Hillary, you pretty much know what you’re gonna get with the LGBT community.”
The interview also gave insight into the transition process and medical comprehension of trans issues.

Before her gender switch, for much of her life Jenner had a background as a sports jock, and in the ultra-masculine sporting world it’s pretty standard for the locker room to contain a high proportion of right-wing, macho conservatives. Jenner has changed her gender but obviously it’s tougher to let go of long-held beliefs and deep-rooted attitudes. Personally, I have no doubt that Trump is a narrow-minded bigot who, in keeping with many right wingers, actually has little or no love in his heart for gay or trans-gender folk, instead will simply churn out any lie he thinks might win him another vote. But, hey, Jenner’s entitled to her view. That’s democracy.
