Gaga lawsuit launched

Lady Gaga is being sued by an American law firm for allegedly making a profit from items being sold on her website to raise money for victims of Japan’s tsunami.

The superstar’s We Pray For Japan bracelets were advertised with the promise that 100 percent of the proceeds would go to relief efforts.

But an American law firm called 1-800-LAW-FIRM claims that Gaga made money on the items by overcharging for postage and tax.

Mother Monster sold her bracelets for $5 but charged fans $3.99 for shipping and $.90 in taxes.

“While we commend Lady Gaga for her philanthropic efforts, we want to ensure that claims that ‘all proceeds will be donated to Japan’s earthquake’ are in fact true,” attorney Alyson Oliver said in a statement.

“Our intention via this lawsuit is to uncover any improprieties committed by Lady Gaga and appropriate the full donations assumed to the victims in Japan.”

Ironically the lawsuit was filed while the Born This Way singer was in Asia to perform at MTV’s Music Aid Japan, which supports the Japanese Red Cross.
