Same Love breaks into ARIA Top 50
A US rap song in support of gay marriage has cracked the ARIA Top 50 singles in Australia.
Same Love by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (featuring Mary Lambert) came has come in at No. 42 this week, up from 45th place.
The single has been in the Top 50 singles for some weeks now and is receiving growing air time on mainstream radio stations and alternative stations like Triple J.
“I may not be the same but that’s not important, no freedom ’till we’re equal, damn right I support it,” Macklemore says in the song.
“A certificate on paper isn’t going to solve it all but it’s a good damn place to start.”
The film clip (below) tracks a gay man’s life from birth through to death in what becomes a very heart-felt video clip (get the tissues ready).
Macklemore is currently topping the charts with the popular track, Thrift Shop.
Macklemore and Lewis are touring Australia in February.
