Big Bang of bucks for openly-gay actor Jim Parsons

NEWS reports this week have indicated that The Big Bang Theory actor Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper) is currently TV’s highest paid openly-gay actor.

In a new deal with CBS, Parsons and fellow actors Johnny Galecki (Leonard) and Kaley Cuoco (Penny) will receive close to US $1 million per episode  up from $325,000 per episode  in a three-year contract, making them one of the highest-paid actors in TV.

In contrast, other openly-gay actors David Hyde Pierce from Frasier was reported to have made $750,000 per episode. Neil Patrick Harris only made $210,000 per episode in his final season of How I Met Your Mother, Matt Bomer received $80,000 per episode of White Collar and at the bottom of the list, Jesse Tyler Ferguson earns $65,000 per episode for his role on Modern Family.

The pay increase negations for The Big Bang Theory cast started back in September last year, with production of season eight delayed due to the casts’ stonewalling of negotiations.
