Burlesque shortlisted for Razzies

Burlesque shortlisted for Razzies

Burlesque has been shortlisted for Razzie nominations in 5 categories – including worst actress for Christina Aguilera and worst supporting actress for Cher.

Often described as the anti-Oscars, the Golden Raspberry Awards – better known as Razzies – pay tribute to the year’s worst movies.

And Burlesque has been singled out as a clear frontrunner, despite respectable box office returns and a Golden Globe nomination for best film.

Xtina’s cinematic debut has been shortlisted for the following categories:

Worst screenplay
Worst Director
Worst Supporting Actor for Cam Gigandet
Worst Supporting Actress for Kristen Bell and Cher
Worst Actress for Christina Aguilera

Interestingly Burlesque hasn’t been shortlisted for worst film – perhaps a nod to the fact that people appear to genuinely enjoy the movie despite its shortcomings.

The following films were not so lucky:

The Bounty Hunter
Clash of the Titans
The Expendables
Grown Ups
Jonah Hex
Killers
The Last Airbender
Little Fockers
Sex and the City 2
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Vampires Suck
Yogi Bear

The actual Razzie nominations are announced on January 24, while Burlesque is released in Australia on January 13.

  1. I liked it better the first time… when it was called Cabaret. Too much got stolen from it including the camera moves and the choreography… but Christina A and her vocal gymnastics could never hold a candle to the original…

  2. Film-school reject movie critics who couldn’t sing, dance, act, or direct their way out of a paper bag. I saw Burlesque and I loved it. It’s full of camp but it’s a fun ride. The music, the singing, and the dancing are fantastic.

  3. Even if it has been nominated for 100 razzies, its worth going soley to watch CHER on screen, she is amazing #MERMAIDS was amazing because of her character, Cher plus Alan Cumming – IM IN!!!!!!!!!!
