Cameron not a fan of Fry’ed boycott

stephen-fryUK Prime Minister David Cameron has rejected gay actor Stephen Fry’s call for moving the 2014 Winter Olympics from Russia in a Twitter post stating that “I believe we can better challenge prejudice as we attend, rather than boycotting the Winter Olympics”.

The open letter Fry wrote on his website, directed at Cameron and the IOC, slammed Russia on its anti gay laws and requested that the games be boycott.

Since then Fry has come out saying that a boycott would be unrealistic and has asked athletes to make a symbolic protest, suggesting a gesture of crossing their hands in front of their chest to show ‘solidarity’ to the gay people of Russia.

The games are due to take place in Sochi in southern Russia in February 2014.
