Gaga’s on the edge of pop glory

The official countdown to Lady Gaga’s Born This Way began today with a new promo single hitting iTunes – with another taste of the album set to follow next Monday.

Produced by Fernando Garibay, The Edge Of Glory is a typically ambitious electro-pop extravaganza that is dedicated to diva’s recently deceased grandfather.

In an interview with Google, Mother Monster said the song is “about your last moment on earth, the moment of truth, the moment before you leave earth”.

Despite its gloomy subject matter, The Edge Of Glory is easily the most upbeat track from Born This Way we’ve had the pleasure of hearing thus far.

It’s another throwback to classic ’80s pop music – complete with sax solo from Clarence Clemons of the E Street Band.

The countdown to Gaga’s third album continues next Monday with the rumoured release of RedOne’s Hair.

If that’s not enough to keep your paws in the air, a preview of yet another album track called Marry The Night leaked online overnight.

Check out that and The Edge Of Glory below.
