Hugh to host Priscilla search

It’s been announced today that actor Hugh Sheridan, best known to Australian audiences from four seasons playing Ben Rafter in Channel 7 drama Packed to the Rafters, has switched to Network Ten to host the upcoming musical theatre talent show, I Will Survive.

The accomplished actor, singer and dancer said he felt perfectly placed to lead a cast of hopefuls across the country in search of Australia’s next ‘triple threat’.

“I’m really happy to be given this opportunity and can’t wait to get started. This show is about finding Australian talent; our next big star! Someone who can master not only singing but acting and dancing, arguably the hardest three things we can do as entertainers,” Sheridan said in a statement.

“I’m really looking forward to getting to know our contestants, and sharing with them what I have learnt on my own journey.”

I Will Survive will follow the search for an Australian performer to play the lead role of Tick in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert on Broadway.

Contestants who make it through the auditions will be whisked away for a ‘road trip of a lifetime’ from Sydney to Alice Springs on the Priscilla bus, with the final four contestants being flown to New York before the winner is chosen.

Filming of I Will Survive starts in late May and the series is set to air on Ten later this year.
