Jane Lynch to host Emmys

Jane Lynch will host year’s Emmy Awards.

The Glee star said she was thrilled to be asked to host the show, which attraction millions of viewers around the world.

“I am tickled pink to be hosting the Primetime Emmys. I’m looking forward to singing, dancing and sporting my finest tracksuit,” Lynch said in a statement.

Executive producer Mark Burnett was gushing in his praise for the Emmy Award winning actress.

“Jane was my first — and only — choice as the host for this year’s Primetime Emmys, and I am glad she said ‘yes’,” he said.

“She has incredible comedic timing, and is a charismatic, talented actress whose energy leaps off the screen and stage. I am thrilled and excited to have her as our host.”

Lynch recently added a Golden Globe Award to her already crowded trophy cabinet thanks to her star turn as Sue Sylvester on the hit television musical.

She was named Best Supporting Actress (Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television).

“I am nothing if not falsely humble,” Lynch told the crowd.

“So I would like to share this tonight with Ian Brennan, one of our three writers. He created Sue Sylvester, and every heinous, insane line that comes out of my mouth was written by him. He’s a deranged young man… This is yours too (although I will be holding on to it).”

The openly lesbian Lynch married her long-term partner, clinical psychologist Dr Lara Embry, in May last year.

Both Lynch and Embry are active within the LGBT community. The couple met at a gala for The National Center for Lesbian Rights and together recorded a video message to gay teens as part of Dan Savage’s It Gets Better project.

Lynch currently is working on her memoir, Happy Accidents, to be released later this year.
