Janet to attend Vienna Life Ball
Janet Jackson will attend the 19th Life Ball in Vienna on May 21 – an annual event that raises money for AIDS charities.
The ’90s hitmaker has been invited as a representative of the Foundation for AIDS Research.
“HIV/AIDS is a pandemic which requires our immediate and continued attention,” Janet said in a statement.
“Combination therapy has made HIV a maintainable disease, but sadly there is still no cure and it continues to spread at alarming rates.
“HIV/AIDS is a continuing hazard, both in the Unites States and abroad.”
Janet has been a long time supporter of AIDS charities, dedicating her 1997 hit Together Again (below) to a friend who died of the disease.
This year’s ball marks 30 years since the disease was first discovered.
