Kylie becomes Dr Minogue

Pop princess Kylie Minogue now has some serious credentials to back up her fabulousness after she was awarded an honorary doctorate in health sciences from Anglia Ruskin University in Essex, UK for her work promoting breast cancer awareness.

After being diagnosed with the illness herself in 2005, the singer underwent surgery and chemotherapy and has been cancer-free for six years.

Minogue told ABC News that it was a “gorgeous” honour.

“[I was] shaking like a leaf up there. There is so much I actually wanted to say to the students and it just didn’t come out of my mouth,” she said.

“But I wanted to say I feel really privileged to be in their company on such a special day. Perhaps in another life I would have been one of them but as it turned out I guess my university was out on the road learning as I went.”

  1. Love her, she deserves all the credit due to her. She has been hard working for years, often to ridicule and criticism. Well done Kylie, or rather, Dr Minogue.
