Kylie comes on-board for Sydney NYE

Kylie Minogue has been appointed the Sydney’s creative ambassador for the 2012 Sydney New Year’s Eve event.

Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore announced today that Minogue would work with the city’s production team and creative agency, Imagination Australia, to devise a theme, colour scheme and style for the event.

Minogue, who is celebrating her 25th year in the music industry, said she was excited to be using her experience to help build on Sydney’s reputation as the New Year’s Eve capital of the world.

“I’m a very proud Australian, so coming home to host Sydney New Year’s Eve is a dream come true,” Minogue said.

“No matter where I am in the world, I always watch Sydney New Year’s Eve fireworks and even though I’m from Melbourne I could not miss this opportunity to celebrate 25 years of performing at the New Year’s Eve capital of the world.

“So many things are happening for my 25th anniversary in music, but I can’t think of a better finale for the K25 year than to be in Australia for the Sydney NYE celebrations.”

The Lord Mayor said Minogue would work with the production and creative teams over the next nine months to make New Year’s Eve “a night to remember”.

“Kylie and the teams are working on developing the NYE12 theme, music and colour scheme, which will be used to help build excitement about the event with street banners and advertising,” she said.

“Those same themes and colours will also be used in the ultimate midnight fireworks display.”

Minogue follows internationally renowned designer Marc Newson, who was the creative headliner for last year’s NYE celebrations.
