Madonna announces she will not tour Russia because of its “gay propaganda” laws

SPEAKING this week with Entertainment Weekly, ahead of her next world tour, Madonna announced:

“I won’t appear in Moscow or St Petersburg anymore, because I don’t want to perform in places where being homosexual is tantamount to a crime.”

The singer is no stranger for standing against Russia. In 2012 when Madonna was last in the country for her MDNA tour, she publicly spoke out in support of punk band Pussy Riot.

Reported in the Moscow Timesanti-LGBTI activist Vitaly Milonov responded to Madonna’s statement by calling the singer a “hypocritical old lady” and accused her of prioritising gay rights over the lives of children suffering.
