Magic happens for Olivia

Australian pop icon Olivia Newton-John is gearing up to release a brand new remix of her 1980 smash Magic.

The project is the brainchild of the Australian Creative Collective (WACCI), who have a long history of raising funds for ONJ’s Cancer & Wellness Centre.

For their latest endeavor, WACCI have enlisted the help of local producer Steve Peach and popular Oxford Street DJ Dan Murphy.

Olivia – who was the guest of honour at the 30th anniversary Mardi Gras party – even hit the studio to re-record her vocals for the new dance version and is planning to promote its release with an appearance on Dancing With The Stars on May 22.

Magic 2011 will be available to download from iTunes on the same day.

A film clip featuring 350 dancers is currently being planned with a view to setting a new world record for music video choreography.

In case you’re too young to remember or need to refresh your memory, here’s Livvy rocking some short shorts and a lovely fringed blouse in the original 1980 video, followed by her Mardi Gras performance of Xanadu.

It will be hard to top!
