ChillOut flood support

Daylesford’s ChillOut Festival says it will donate $1 from every ticket sold in the next two weeks to support GLBT people in flood-affected Queensland.

ChillOut president Michael Brady said the money would go to a special GLBT assistance fund set up by the Queensland Association for Healthy Communities (QAHC).

“Like all Australians, we at ChillOut watched the unfolding flood disaster in Queensland with trepidation and concern,” Brady said.

“Now the floodwaters have receded, people across south-east Queensland are slowly trying to rebuild their lives. Many people remain in temporary accommodation, and need financial assistance.”

Brady said GLBT people would be affected, along with other Queenslanders, and QAHC has organised services, including temporary accommodation, counselling and clean-up support.

“QAHC has also established a fund to assist LGBT people directly, and ChillOut will be supporting this fund through this special ticket offer,” Brady said.

For every ChillOut ticket purchased between January 18 – 31, ChillOut will donate $1 to the QAHC flood fund, up to a maximum of $500.

ChillOut has encouraged festival-goers to consider buying their Carnival Day, Bush Dance or Dance Party tickets in advance to help support the QAHC initiative.

The annual rural queer festival will be held over the Victorian Labour Day long weekend, from March 11 to 14.
