Condoman takes on Queensland radio

One of the country’s most successful safe-sex campaigns will be part of a new radio campaign. The superhero Condoman has been popular safe sex initiative for the Indigenous 2 Spirits Program for 25 years.

In the new radio spot, which has already been broadcast by Indigenous radio station 98.9FM in Brisbane, Condoman and a recent addition to the 2 Spirits campaign, superhero Lubelicious, take on their familiar foes including chlamydia, HIV, gonnorhoea and syphilis. During the spot, the pair disperse advice about safe-sex to a rugby team looking to celebrate the end of the year.

“It’s shame to wear condoms.” one woman says during the ad.

“It’s easier to carry a condom than a baby or an STI,” Condoman says.

“Don’t be shame, be game! Wear condoms!”

This is the first of 24 radio skits to be broadcast over Indigenous radio in conjunction with 2 Spirits, 98.9FM and the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health. Promoters hope other radio stations and social media will pick up the campaign soon as well.
