Hi gang,
I’ve just changed my answering machine message at Casa Dolly.
“Christmas comes but once a year, that is why I’m not here. I’ve gone shopping for a gift or two. But don’t get excited it’s not for you.”
I have checked with Tiffany’s and it’s not too late to order a little something for me for Xmas. They have my list and I’ve been very good this year. Well, I tried but there’s too many bad influences out there, and that’s just the Star Observer team.

Butterfly Club Fundraiser
Melbourne
If you’ve lived in Melbourne for more than 20 minutes then you’re probably familiar with the Butterfly Club in South Melbourne. Well, the very sad news is that it has to close its doors in February due to ridiculously high rent. The thought of moving all those knick-knacks fills me with dread and horror.
However, we might not need to as they are raising some much needed funds for a new location in the inner city by holding a ‘Cash for Kitsch’ sell-off of all that wonderful memorabilia.
This venue has done so much to help new artists over the years and has also been more than helpful to those who’ve been in the business a while too.

Open Doors Pool Party

The good people behind Open Doors Youth Service are having a fundraiser and they need your help. They normally spend their time helping around 2000 LGBT young people who can often feel isolated or confused.
Sometimes there maybe difficulties at home or at school and this is where Open Doors can really be of help. What better way to raise some money than by having a pool party – expect to be entertained all day by drag kings and queens.
There will also be DJs, a BBQ and a raffle – oh and water to swim in.
INFO: Tickets are $15/$10 concession or $40 for the family. It’ll run from 2-6pm.
Star Observer /Newtown Hotel Xmas Party

This Sunday you are all invited to the newly refurbished Newtown Hotel where Star Observer will help host a special Xmas party. It’s one of the most fun Xmas party knees up around and normally most of the photos from the night are only just fit to be printed. It will also act as a bit of a fundraiser for ACON, so what more convincing do you need?
Entry is a gold coin donation and we’ll make sure you dance like there’s no tomorrow with DJs Sveta, Matt Vaughan and Smithers on the decks. Come celebrate Xmas with us and help pull our cracker.
