FILM – THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT
Lesbian director Lisa Cholodenko’s latest feature is a thoroughly modern comedy/drama about life for a gay-parented family.
Long-term couple Nic and Jules (Annette Bening and Julianne Moore, both radiant) find their already fraught relationship reaches breaking point when their teenage children track down the sperm donor who gave them life, Paul (Mark Ruffalo).
What follows is an endearing, often hilarious look at a family in crisis.
Be warned, though: the film comes with a rather surprising plot twist that’s left a sour taste in the mouths of many gay viewers.
