ACON assisting FBI serial killer case

A former AIDS Council of NSW (ACON) employee may hold the key to unearthing the identity of a victim of a suspected US serial killer, the ABC reports.

David Parker Ray is believed to have kidnapped, tortured and murdered up to 40 women at his home in New Mexico.

Despite receiving a 223-year jail sentence, no bodies have ever been found. Ray’s sentence was for kidnapping and torturing two women who escaped.

He died in prison a decade ago.

FBI agents believe a woman known only as Connie was killed by Ray in New Mexico in 1995 and investigators have found a letter written to her by a Sydney man named Mark at Ray’s home.

The FBI says he revealed he worked for ACON and in a Sydney hospital.

In the letter, Mark wrote that he had met Connie on a US beach in February 1990.

In June 1990, he lived at Bellevue Hill in Sydney’s east, and had also lived in London, Paris and Canada.

ACON is reported to have found several possible matches in its staff records and will contact investigators.

The Australian Federal Police has asked anyone with information on Mark’s identity to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
