Foes to protest during conference

The anti-marriage equality National Marriage Coalition (NMC) will hold a rally in Sydney on the same day that the ALP National Conference will debate the issue.

On December 3, NMC, which is made up of the Australian Christian Lobby, the Australian Family Association and the Dads4Kids Fatherhood Foundation will gather in Martin Place to hear from speakers including unnamed politicians from both major parties.

Writing about the rally on his Heal Our Land website, rally organiser and failed Christian Democrats candidate for Sydney, Peter Madden called same-sex marriage legislation “dangerous.”

“Homosexual marriage [is] blatant defilement of all that Australian families hold dear,” Madden wrote.

“Should same-sex marriage legislation be passed in Federal Parliament, you would lose your rights to determine what your children will be taught in school.”

“In other nations where same sex marriage has been passed into law children are now taught homosexual sex education from as young as kindergarten.”

“If we don’t make a stand now and fight to protect our children and our grandchildren from the forces that seek to destroy them, then we will lose them to perversion, despair, AIDS and ultimately hellfire.”

However when confronted about his claims by the Star Observer, Madden admitted that no kindergarten aged child had been taught about same-sex intercourse where same-sex marriage has been legalised – merely that same-sex relationships existed.

“Children are not educated about the act of sodomy in places where homosexual marriage has been passed until later in their schooling,” he told the Star Observer.

Madden also admitted that parents in Australia did not have a direct say in what their children were taught other than through the democratic process.

Madden promised that Stand for Marriage Rally protesters would keep their distance from pro-marriage equality advocates gathering in the city on the same day.

“This rally is not an ‘anti homosexual’ rally, nor is it about hate speech and … we are not looking for confrontation with homosexuals,” Madden said.

“We are aware that there is a rally and march supporting same sex marriage … We will not be moving to disrupt this.”

Madden held a similar protest (pictured) in Martin Place against the Sydney Mardi Gras in March this year which drew a crowd of less than a hundred people.

Thousands of marriage equality supporters will be gathering in Hyde Park North on December 3 from midday to march to the ALP National Conference in Darling Harbour to rally until 3pm.

  1. WELL DONE Peter Madden for having the guts to stand up against these people. As Bill Muehlenberg said in his article (On SSM)……Labor and the Greens are in bed together. Indeed, it appears that when Bob Brown tells Labor to jump, Julia Gillard asks, ‘how high?’ So Julia is doing Bob’s bidding once again, and it appears the numbers are there for the motion to go through. Of course the Green/Labor fixation on this matter does not reflect the rest of the country. A recent national poll on this found that only 14 per cent “strongly” wanted to change the Marriage Act to allow SSM.

A party which once prided itself in representing the ordinary worker is now a party fully taken captive to various radical minority interest groups and agendas. It is far more intent on pushing these dangerous social experiments than it is in representing everyday Australians.

At least there are 19 Church leaders who are opposed to SSM http://www.acl.org.au/2011/12/19-senior-church-leaders-call-on-labor-not-to-change-marriage/
    Pete

  2. I get sick of militant secularists who assert that the church has too much infiuence in Australian politics. If that was the case, then I doubt that our nation would be pursuing the reckless and social engineering that the ALP endorsed today.

  3. Phil x thats quite an exaggeration and short sighted. If you have a right to a Mardi Gras well, in a democracy Christians have rights as well. Im gay and a catholic.

  4. Warning one should oppose all god nutters even Gay ones these people have diseased minds!

And the “leadership’of the LGBTIQC want to wed the “Community” to the religious institution called Mariage ,talk about social suicide!

Warning all gay people the Churches and all religion HATE OUR GUTS and want us DEAD!

So remember the priest that marry’s you also knows where you live ,think about it its like sheep linig up for the coming slaughter!

    BTW,children,GOD NEVER EXISTED !

  5. These Christian haters are the same parents who give their children jam sandwiches to eat for the lunch.

  6. Not all Christians support the stance of the ACL and their other “friends.” When you look at the crap that comes out of Madden’s mouth, it’s plainly obvious that he is just a hate-filled, nationalist redneck who is masquerading as a “Christian.” Christians out there who support the ACL’s stand should examine Madden’s comments closely and ask themselves “would Jesus have said that or taken that approach?” – then they’ll realise Madden is nothing but a fraud and a bigot and does not speak on behalf of them or their God.

  7. Brenty, Christians are NOT pure evil, but the influence peddlers, institutional lobbyists and wannabe politicians for the supernatural (like Madden) who too often wrongly and loudly claim to speak on behalf of all Christians are more than a bit wicked, I reckon.

  8. “merely that same-sex relationships existed.”
Yes- these extremist groups want to ban our visibility of existence peice by peice – and this is EXACTLY why the words “Gay & Lesbian” should NOT be dropped from the name of the Mardi Gras parade, festival, & party.

  9. What a fuck wit. Hopefully the numbers at the pro equality rally will exceed their homophobic hate and fear campaign.
