IVF Australia to support Mardi Gras & queer women

IVF Australia has been named as an official supporter of this year’s Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras festival.

The organisation has also signed on to be a presenting partner for the Women Say Something forums that feature a range of high-achieving women discussing important issues.

Over the last 12 months the number of same-sex couples accessing IVF Australia’s donor programs has doubled, and there’s also been an increase of single women, according to fertility specialist Dr Louise Fay.

“IVF Australia is hoping to raise awareness amongst gay men to consider this altruistic gesture,” Fay said.

Mardi Gras chief executive Michael Rolik said: “Each year, we see more LGBTQI families at Mardi Gras, especially at events like our annual Fair Day… It’s fantastic to see members of our community fulfilling their dream of becoming parents, with the support of IVF Australia.”

The sponsorship comes on the back of recent campaigns by IVF Australia to encourage gay men to consider donating sperm and lesbian women to create families through IVF technology.
