Mardi Gras goes digital

Mardi Gras have a Facebook application to help supporters embrace the 2011 theme of ‘Say Something’ this year.

Put together by Sydney digital agency Pixolüt, the ‘Say Something’ application allows the 22,000 Facebook fans of Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras to create unique images combining their photos and messages with the ‘speech bubble’ season creative.

Users can express themselves and show their support, as well as share their creations with the friends and family, and encourage more people to join the online community and offline events.

They will also go in the draw to win two tickets to the VIP Parade Viewing area, Mardi Gras Party and a $500 Virgin travel voucher to spend.

“We embrace social media as one of the best ways to interact with our supporters, continue to grow our communities in a virtual way, and help distribute our messages,” said New Mardi Gras CEO Michael Rolik.

“This app allows our Facebook fans to share their messages and views, and that’s what Mardi Gras is all about. Make sure you say something and you could have your entry displayed throughout the Festival.”

The application is accessible through the ‘Say & Win’ tab at the top of the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Fanpage: www.facebook.com/gaymardigras
