Lube up and wrestle

The Oxford Hotel’s Underground Bar will host a wrestling competition with a difference over three Thursdays from February 3.

Guys and girls can strip off for a few rounds of lube wrestling, thanks to the folks from the newly-launched ID Lube, and in conjunction with the Star Observer, Manhunt, Sax Fetish, Harbour City Wrestling Club, and the Toolshed. Entry is by gold coin donation, with proceeds going to Positive Life NSW.

The competition will be open to between six and eight contestants, with prospective wrestlers registering on arrival. Sax Fetish will provide them with jockstraps and other appropriately skimpy sports attire to wear while they compete.

Winners each night will compete again, with the eventual first, second and third prize winners set to receive well over $1000 worth of ID lubricant and Sax Fetish and Toolshed products.

Garth Young, managing director of CSAW Health, which distributes ID Lubricants in Australia, told the Star Observer he hoped the competition would provide a novel way of spreading the safe-sex message.

“Whatever we can do to educate people and to slow the transmission of HIV, we’ll try it,” he said.

ID Lube products will be available for sale on the night, with 25 percent of the proceeds going to Yurunga Industries, a program that provides meaningful work opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.
