Mardi Gras party: have your say

New Mardi Gras is seeking public feedback in the lead-up to the 2012 party, and has launched an online survey where respondents can have their say on entertainment, DJs, venues and more.

The survey, which is open to both Australian and overseas residents, takes around 15-20 minutes to complete and respondents can go into the draw to win a 16GB iPad 3G or one of 10 party tickets.

“We want to look at the needs of the young, the female, the alternative, the Bears, the party boys, the retired-from-the-sceners and so forth and try to play with the formula to see if we can get a more appealing balance for as many as possible,” NMG marketing and communications manager Damien Eames said.

“It’s also clear that we have to pay much more attention to the details. The big scenic and shows are a key aspect of the party, but we have to pay more attention to the experience of partygoers, wherever they are, whether it’s at the gates, between the halls, toilets, getting a drink and also think in terms of the journey across the night.”

The call for feedback comes after the disappointment of the Rihanna no-show at this year’s party, with many questions in the survey focusing on the entertainment aspect of the night. Respondents can choose from an extensive wishlist of party performers, and can also have their say about NMG’s divisive policy of not revealing the musical line-up before the event.

As well as seasoned partygoers, NMG is also seeking the opinions of those who may have previously shunned the party because it doesn’t really cater for their tastes — “whether you’re more a country girl or a hip-hop kid”.
