Melbourne queer film festival sneak peak

Australia’s largest LGBTI film festival, the Melbourne Queer Film Festival, has revealed just a fraction of what’s to come in 2013. The 2013 line-up will screen over 150 films from filmmakers across the world for 10 days in March.

The line-up includes the award-winning film Facing Mirrors, which tracks two very different women in Iran who cross paths: the wealthy and rebellious Adineh who sets out to transition into a man and the conservative Rana who is forced to drive a taxi since her husband is in jail.

French film Beyond The Walls (pictured) looks at two men and their toxic relationship of co-dependence and addiction, while A Perfect Ending provides some comic relief in this comedy of errors when Rebecca tells her most private secret to a high-priced escort named Paris.

Glee star Chris Colfer makes his screen-writing debut in his comedy drama Struck By Lightning. It has a surprisingly strong cast with Australia’s Rebel Wilson, Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks and the West Wing’s Allison Janney and Colfer as well. It centres on a young man who recounts his blackmailing endeavours after being struck by lightning and killed.
