Anthony Mundine says same-sex couples are “confusing” to society

Champion boxer Anthony Mundine has made a handful of homophobic comments in a recent interview, labelling same-sex couples as “confusing”.

After being announced as the first intruder on the latest season of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here, Mundine was interviewed by the Sydney Morning Herald to chat about his reputation.

When the conversation turned to gender and sexuality, he didn’t hold back.

He believes in traditional roles for men and women, and criticised the ABC for “promoting” homosexuality to young people.

“My biggest fear is Allah and if Allah prohibits it, then it’s wrong,” he said.

“I was always taught that two genders together is natural, it’s what’s meant to be.

“Male and male, or female and female, is just confusing to society.”

Mundine then quickly mentioned that one of his best friends is gay, and that he has no problem with gay people.

“That’s their prerogative, all I can do is warn them,” he said.

“I always tell my gay friend, ‘You’ve got to find a lady… God will judge you, not me.”

  1. Yes, I know all about “Freedom of Speech” and that it should be encouraged BUT do we really have to publish the sort of garbage this person utters? Does anyone actually care what he has to say about anything?. He is blatantly homophobic – but just like racists – he tries to hide behind that old and deliberate LIE “OH! But I’m NOT Homophobic/Racist because some of my Best Friends are Homosexuals/Black/White/Yellow etc., ethnicity, creed.”
The bullshit just goes on and on.

  2. Personally I don’t give a damn what this oxygen thief has to say. He is the most arrogant ignorant waste of space. The media need to steer clear of him.

  3. There are a couple of issues here. One the guy is a boxer, not a philosopher or politician. So what relevance does his opinion have? Two, why are interviewers asking such questions of these people? My advice to people who are not involved with the LBGQTI community if asked such questions is to simply answer that they do not have an opinion on the subject. Because whatever they say will get some backlash from some group or another!

    • Absolutely Jeff, well said and I couldn’t agree more. Why do sports players and movie actors who aren’t gay getting asked such questions and then giving their own opinion.. which either endears them to the gay community or not. They should just say, nothing to do with me.. that’s the only honest answer they can give and no one would be able to fault them for it.. Mundine doesn’t hold back because he’s an uneducated stupid moron who doesn’t know any better, and thinks people want to hear his moronic opinions, when myself and many others prefer that he wouldn’t be asked anything at all.

  4. Of course he’s confused. He has spent his whole life surrounded by sweaty, muscled up, near naked men. Others just go the sauna to deal with it. “This one time, at boxing camp….”

  5. Why do we even give space to this moron anymore? He has nothing worthwhile to say. Too stupid for words!!

  6. Can the media stop using the persons name and just say “a serially retired boxer” instead?

  7. Well, the incredibly stupid are very easily confused…

This is of course the same guy who was confused that Daniel Geale is Aboriginal and Tasmanian. He lost the support of a lot of his own people over that demonstration of insensitive stupidity.

  8. Chock needs to pull his head in, the verbal diarrhoea machine he calls a mouth is obviously not connected to what little brain remains after being punched in the ring so much.
