The No campaign claim they’re being silenced in a television ad seen by millions

The Coalition for Marriage has launched a new ad, using the platform of national television to claim they are being silenced.

The ad will be seen by millions, Pink News has reported.

It features a man expressing concern that his freedom of speech is being stifled in the marriage equality debate.

“Politicians aren’t listening. Where’s my freedom of speech?” he says.

“I’m over this politically correct nonsense.

“I’m sick of being told what to think by the thought police. Can’t say this, can’t say that.”

Far from being silenced, the Coalition for Marriage has used its substantial support from religious groups to fund a heavy ad campaign across Australia.

The group instructs its activists to play on public fears of gay sex and trans issues instead of addressing the issue of marriage equality.

The Coalition for Marriage has called the postal survey “our last stand against this radical ideology”.

“I’m going to have my say, all right,” says the man appearing in the latest ad.

“I’m going to say no.”

With just weeks remaining of the marriage equality campaign, activists on both sides are urging Australians to return their votes.

“We know that the Australian people support marriage equality, but no one can be complacent,” said Tiernan Brady of the Equality Campaign.

“It is all about getting as many surveys returned as possible.

“We call on everyone to participate and to talk to their family and friends to make sure they do to. Together, let’s get this done.”

  1. How ridiculous can anyone or any group get?
Anyone can take out an advertisement anywhere they want to. All they have to do is Pay for it!.
What these people don’t seem to realise that (though the entire process is a massive waste of time and money) this Survey is giving us ALL our Right to Freedom of Speech and Expression!
Whether we support Same Gender Marriage or not (I personally don’t want it for myself, but believe those of our GLTBIQ Community who do should have the Right to do so and have already voted “YES”) we ALL have the Right to say so.
The leading group within the NO Campaign is the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL). They are extraordinarily well funded – and didn’t some church in Sydney just give them ONE MILLION DOLLARS to promote the No campaign? Show me anyone or any organisation which has given a similar amount to the YES Campaign!.
The No Campaign have, quite deliberately, embarked on a campaign of Misinformation and have dragged every red herring in the book into their false claims. Call it “Fake News” for that is what it is.

  2. Absolutely moronic. The ad is ramble of disconnected thought bubbles.

But what do you expect from these guys? An actual argument?

The f*cking hypocrisy is (again) lost on them.

You’re on f**king national TV saying whatever the hell you want.

The consequences will be zilch to society and shame on those who sponsored these ads.

    Last minute flailing.
