Leader of the Christian Democratic Party Fred Nile has warned Australians that gay people may start handing out separate citizenships and adopting rapper Macklemore’s song Same Love as their national anthem.

Nile’s confusion stemmed after Same Love, which was performed at the recent NRL Grand Final, was referred to as a gay anthem.

In a press release, Nile expressed concerns that LGBTI Australians had adopted their own community anthem.

“The homosexual lobby has its own Olympics, its own award ceremonies in the cultural arena, its own flag, and now we are told they will have their own ‘anthem’,” he said.

“What next? Are they going to start handing out their own separate homosexual citizenships?

“Who is doing the dividing here?”

He added that the “poison” of identity politics was ripping society apart.

“This poison is being peddled by Yes extremists who are hell bent on putting Australian against Australian,” he said.

“This is not acceptable, whatever your opinion.”

A handful of politicians criticised the NRL’s decision to have Macklemore perform at the recent grand final, in light of his LGBTI-affirming hit.

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton said in the spirit of free speech, two songs should have been performed at the final, one for gay marriage, and one against.

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson said she didn’t know who Macklemore was and preferred an Australian to be performing instead, like “Johnny Farnham”.

Despite this, the performance was a major success and saw the track Same Love reach number one on Australian iTunes.

  1. Who cares what this red-necked bigot and arch homophobe has to say. It can’t be long now before he goes tripping off to his God and He sends him to roast in Hell – Just where he belongs. The poor old git actually believes all that garbage.

  2. This is actually quite serious- that a person who is either psychotic or is so consumed with hatred obtains access to political power, and has been in the media for over 30 years.

Apart from being a national embarrassment and contributing to Australia being a world laughing stock, Fred Nile actually represents a sector of the community that is the worst and lowest of the population. He also inflames their hatred and stupidity, and distributed mis- information.

It is easy to say just ignore the drivel, but it DOES NOT seem to just go away.

One action available may a class action to launch anti- vilification action upon him, and others who are currently spreading lies about the gay and lesbian community, such as contained in the TV ads of coalition for marriage…

  3. As I assume that this clown is only semi-literate, I don’t suppose that Nile is aware that the Egyptian river after which his family chose to name itself is famous for its bumboats?

    Just sayin’.

  4. Someone please tell this idiot that that the reason why LGBT people have their own Olympics (Gay Games actually) not included them) and their own award ceremonies is because people like him have not included them in mainstream events. What an absolute tool

  5. Hey what a great idea. We could create a new nation of where fairness, equality, equity and recognition of sovereignty govern our way of life. A place of regenerated enthusiasm for care and productivity that values and reflects the wellbeing of people as much as our economic positioning. And protections that address address the physical and emotional developmental needs of children would be included.
Our country would truely reflect and celebrate multicultural and Indigenous diversity paying our international dues to human right treaties, including our responsibilities to respond to international humanitarian /refugee crisis.
We will build our education and industrial relations environments with a stronger emphasis on informed practice, efficacy models and inclusion. We would value prosperity in all its forms.

Finally we will reject and remodel away from the global influences that do not promote cooperative and consultative based decision making. As a truely dynamic and environmentally responsive new nation we will listen and respond to our people instead of having our heads in our ass. We will remember behind every politician are many constituents that want parliament to represent both our endorsed principles of respect as well as the needs of our people. As such and at a minimum we will expect such parliamentarians to do their jobs and we will hold them accountable for that.

  6. I’m worried Fred Nile will create a new country with its own fascist anthem and a church-based flag (churches do have flags, check it out). Where’s my article?
