Happy birthday, Mr Premier: drag queen

WA Premier Colin Barnett was left speechless in a radio interview in Perth today after a local drag queen serenaded him on live radio.

Barnett was on 92.9FM’s Lisa, Paul and Baz show this morning when popular local drag queen Hannah Conda arrived at the studio to sing him ‘Happy Birthday’.

Just a moment before Conda began singing, Barnett managed to say a surprised “Oh, wow”.

“Happy birthday, darl,” Conda told the Premier after singing the birthday song and then landed a big kiss on Barnett’s cheek.

The popular drag queen then got the entire studio to sing the happy birthday to the Premier.

The surprise came a few days early as Barnett’s actual birthday is on July 15.

The Premier will turn 62 this Sunday.
