Rugby star Israel Folau has made another controversial social media post, this time tweeting a link to a sermon speaking against gay people and encouraging repentance.

Folau was earlier this year widely criticised after posting on Instagram that he believed gay people would go to hell and must repent.

He yesterday shared a video of a religious sermon called ‘It’s time to get right with God’.

“With great love I wanted to share this video in the hope that people watch it and think about it,” Folau posted with the video.

“Jesus is coming back soon and he wants us to turn to him through repentance and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ.

“Please don’t harden your heart.”

The 11-minute video by late US evangelist David Wilkerson calls for sinners to repent, referring to “sexual perversions” and specifically to gay people a number of times.

On homosexuality, the sermon speaks of hell, showing rainbow flags and nightclubs before images of hellfire.

Wilkerson expresses concerns about “tolerance of same-sex marriage” and young people being influenced to be more tolerant of diversity.

After the controversy around Folau’s prior posts about gay people, he avoided sanctions from Rugby Australia but was cautioned to be more sensitive in his social media use.

He has maintained he is not homophobic, but as a Christian includes homosexuality among the sins condemned by the Bible.

  1. Like all religious gay haters and right wing nutcases, they cherrypick the bible to suit their own distorted view and cover their own insecurity. He needs the help of a phyciatrist.

Israel thinks Jesus is going to return to save us all. I’ve news for him. The guy who claimed he was the son of god !! was crucified 100’s of years ago by the Romans, who worshipped many gods and by the way, finally gave in and started the Catholic church, after murdering hundreds of their followers. Any chance of him returning to save us all is a fantasy supporting their own insecurity !

  2. Hypocrites. Free speech. If people don’t follow his beliefs or religion, ignore it! Funny how they highlight a tweet that shows nothing wrong. It’s like they are against christianity. Or maybe it’s more the fact that his name is ‘israel’ and he is speaking highly of christianity, and the bosses are ‘jewish’. It seems like everyone is either trying to mock christianity these days and destroy it’s values.

  3. Dear Israel,

When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God’s Laws and how to follow them.

    1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighbouring nations.

    2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

    3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness – Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

    4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord – Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbours. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

    5. I have a neighbour who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?

    6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination, Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don’t agree. Can you settle this? Are there ‘degrees’ of abomination?

    7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here?

    8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?

    9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

    10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn’t we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I’m confident you can help.

Thank you again for reminding us that God’s word is eternal and unchanging

  4. “Methinks my lord, Israel Folau, doth protest too much”
Is he trying to tell us something about himself that he keeps banging on and on and on as to how homosexuals should repent or they will all go to Hell?
He would not be the first rugby player who had to face up to his own demon, to something he is afraid to admit to.
Let’s face it his only talent is to kick a ball and run fast.
Religious zealots are past masters at brainwashing but the very thing, if we are to believe that Jesus actually existed – and there is no proof that he did, they seem to leave out of their so-called “teaching” are the very things we are told Jesus was very big on: Compassion, Love and Caring.

  5. Why do religious zealots constantly OBSESS about gay people – but no-one else? Why do they selectively cherry-pick from their book/s – ignoring many of the other ‘rules’? Why do they claim it’s all done in love and then target and condemn gay people only for their special ‘love’? Where are the constant tweets about adulterers, fornicators, single parents, unmarried couples….those who have tattoos….etc. etc?

  6. With great arrogance and self congratulation I wanted to share this video in the hope that people watch it and think about it.**#+_##**???. Well after all he’s a Christian and that’s what Christians do, a lot evangelising and telling others how to live. PPssFFk.

  7. My experience in life suggests that this man is deeply troubled about where he stands in relation to his own sexuality, and how it works for him and those close to him .

I hope when he made these comments he wasn’t weAring a variety of fabrics as under Leviticus he is meant to be stoned to death.

  8. I thought that somewhere in the Christian story it is said
” Do not judge unless you be judged”
That goes for us as well as his beliefs.

His employer has to stand up and be counted, he offered his resignation, he has breached a code of conduct. Accept his resignation>… NOW
You and I would be sacked for doing this and bringing comment (negative) to our employer. Why is he allowed airspace??

  9. I really do not care for the thoughts of this moron, who is israel folau anyway? A low IQ footy jock with a Phobic Loudmouth it seems. Give this mindless Sheep the attention he deserves … Zero.

  10. It is very obvious to me that this guy is obviously troubled by his own sexuality and is trying desperately to prove that it aint so.

    • He’s a rugby union player who previously dabbled in league and AFL. So in his last three jobs he’s had to spend a lot of time showering with fit young dudes. Who else can say that about their last three careers?

  11. Christians who go about judging others as sinners are the fucking worst. Their religion specifically tells them not to do this, judge not lest ye be judged, but these holy arseholes can’t help themselves because they’re so desperate to appear superior and sucky.

The bible spends a lot more effort criticising those who take the Lord’s name in vain than it does bagging out the gays (who are roughly on a par with shellfish consumers in the sinning stakes according to Leviticus anyway) so Israel has a lot more praying for forgiveness to do than the gay community he’s so hateful of.
