Amsterdam anti-gay violence push
Traditionally gay-friendly Amsterdam has unveiled a new strategy to combat rising homophobic violence.
Amsterdam City Council, police and LGBT group COC announced the initiative in response to growing numbers of gay-targeted attacks in the Dutch capital, 365Gay.com reported.
Amsterdam police will create a standard list of homophobic attacks. COC will assist with gay hate crime investigations and will increase anti-homophobia education
Many of the attacks have been blamed on groups of young Muslim men.
One recent victim was Chris Crain, editor of US gay magazine Washington Blade. Crain was attacked by three men described as Moroccans, according to 365Gay.com.
