Belgium gets gay adoption

Belgian same-sex couples have won the right to adopt children after the country’s parliament narrowly passed a gay parenting bill. The bill passed the Belgian senate by 34 votes to 33 last week, making the country the fourth European Union member to approve adoption for gay couples, after the Netherlands, Sweden and Spain, Associated Press reported. The parenting law will also allow co-parent adoption, so both partners are recognised where only one is the biological parent.
