Whichever lord mayoral candidate wins at this weekend’s election, one thing is sure. Next year’s Mardi Gras season will get more financial support from local government than this year’s did.

New Mardi Gras co-chair Michael Woodhouse asked election frontrunners Clover Moore and the ALP’s Michael Lee for a firm commitment to Mardi Gras support at a Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association dinner this week.

“In 2004 our support from local government declined,” Wood-house told the Star this week.
