Artist Lachlan Warner is installing an arrangement of 12 Buddha figures in a grove at Marks Park, Bondi, as a tribute to those who have been the victims of violence, murder and gay bashing at the park.

The Buddhas will be sculpted in Warner’s trademark aluminium Easter-egg foil but this time will be reinforced with resin to withstand the wind and weather. The installation is part of Sculpture By The Sea, which will see sculpture take over the foreshore from Bondi to Tamarama. Buddhist purification rites will be performed to honour the victims of violence. The Sadana, or Puja, will be led by the Venerable Bhant?ejadhammo, of Sangha Lodge in Lewisham.

The ceremony will be held at Marks Park (easterly side), at the end of Fletcher St, South Bondi, on Saturday 1 November at 8am -“ bring a blanket or cushion or chair.
