CUTTING-EDGE CABARET

Post-cabaret cabaret comes to the Studio over eight days from Friday 30 June. The alt.cabaret/not season kicks off with singer and exotic performance artist Meow Meow’s Beyond Glamour: The Absinthe Tour.

Described by one reviewer as a reincarnation of Lou Reed, we think she’s going to be much sexier than that. Sydney’s favourite ladies of hip-hop Sista She, pictured, are performing their Live And Intimate show for one night only, with lots of representations of women and the suburbs.

Don’t be fooled by their showing at the Mardi Gras launch, the Sistas at the Studio is an hilarious night out, full of comedy cabaret set to phat beats. Belgian piano and accordion duo Mich en Scene perform the Songs Of Jacques Brel, legendary composer and favourite of Edith Piaf.

And from Melbourne Martin Martini & The Bone Palace Orchestra perform in this first Sydney show, a combination of funk with junk and circus.

Meow Meow performs Friday 30 June, Saturday 1 July, Friday 7 July and Saturday 8 July. Martin Martini performs Saturday 1 July. Sista She perform Saturday 8 July and Mich en Scene perform on Thursday and Friday 6-7 July.

All shows are at The Studio, Sydney Opera House, and tickets are available from $30. Visit the Sydney Opera House website for bookings and information.
