Cash for Lobby

New Mardi Gras donated $15,000 to the NSW Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby last week. The cheque was handed over to Ben Keats, co-convenor of the GLRL, by outgoing NMG chair David Imrie.

The contribution is part of the Small Grants program instigated by NMG in 2007 to donate at least 10 percent of its net profit to support community organisations and other worthwhile causes.

We are delighted to be supporting the lobby for another year, Imrie saod. The Lobby has played a key role in the removal of discriminatory laws over the years and still has a valuable role to play in key areas such as adoption reforms, civil marriage and anti-discrimination provisions.

The NSW Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby thank New Mardi Gras for their continued support of the GLRL, said Keats. The funds received from NMG are essential in allowing us to continue to fight for equality and social justice on behalf of our community.

  1. Lovely. Now thats a good 2007 decision from Imrie and the New Mardi Gras Board which seems to be lacking in several of the other comments streams I have read recently on Imries resignation. Not so bad after all I’d say !
