ChillOut will go ahead

Following the sudden announcement late last week that the ChillOut Festival had shed two board members and parted ways with event mangement company the Adam Lowe Group, ChillOut president Adam Wright has vowed the 2010 ChillOut festival will go ahead as planned.

“We’ve always been a volunteer run festival, so next year will simply be the same,” he told Sydney Star Observer.

“I’ve got great confidence in the team and we’re looking forward to a great ChillOut in 2010.”

Wright would not be drawn on what caused the split between the ChillOut committee and Adam Lowe Group, saying he was bound by a confidentiality agreement.

Wright paid tribute to outgoing members Geoffrey True and Jim Culbertson, who announced their departure from the committee last week.

  1. It remains disappointing that this successful gay festival does not include as part of its agenda special consideration, including meaningful concessions, for hiv disability and other social service recipients, of whom they are very many in the region.

  2. Chillout is a great country festival and should be used as a model for all country festivals for our community. It has an open board run by the community. The fact two members have left show that it is working well and represents the community. It is good to have a robust board that is prepared to take tough decisions even if a minority disagree.
