Country Matters
The latest show downstairs at Belvoir Street seems perfectly suited to the theatre’s intimate dimensions, a thriller of sorts called The Country. Playwright Martin Crimp is also the author of Attempts On Her Life, which caught everyone’s attention when STC staged a production as part of their blueprints program. That play was a puzzle, as is The Country, which spookily concerns an unexpected visitor to an English countryside house: a doctor carrying a mysterious unconscious woman.
