Desperately seeking Grindr users

Filmmaker Damien Dunstan is looking for Grindr users from all walks of life to take part in a documentary that aims to lift the lid on Sydney’s obsession with Grindr.

The documentary will follow a group of men, chronicling their ups and downs, and ins and outs, on the app.

The Daily Grind will look at the spectrum of people using Grindr and the different ways they use it – whether for cruising, friendships, hook-ups or relationships.

As Grindr’s fourth-largest user city, Dunstan believes Sydney is the perfect backdrop for the film.

“It’s impossible to go to Oxford St without hearing that distinctive sound or characteristic yellow glow, but no one really speaks openly about it,” Dunstan said.

“I think we’re only starting to understand the possibilities of the technology.”

Dunstan is looking for people of all ages and backgrounds to share their Grindr experiences. Filming will begin early next year.
