DIVA 2006

The night of the drag community’s year is happening on Monday 28 August. The 2006 Drag Industry Variety Awards are a chance to rock up, frock up and possibly pick up, and a few talented performers will even leave the event with a trophy.

More than just an awards ceremony, the DIVAs are a sensory drag experience. The night kicks off at Star City Showroom, with cocktails and red carpet excess from 7:30pm, shows from 8:30pm.

The Harbour City Bears meet up every week for social drinks in the front bar of Oxford Street’s famous Oxford Hotel.

It’s a chance to catch up with some of Sydney’s handsome hirsute men in a casual environment, and it happens at the corner of Oxford and Bourke Streets.

While we’re on the subject, the legendary Carlotta has enlisted the legendary Courtney Act for her Priscilla Show at Souths Juniors. It’s a Las Vegas-style production with plenty of camp.

Don’t miss The Pollys Club Flights of Fantasy party this Saturday 26 August. The Pollys parties are legendary events of the inner west, and are always a hoot. Saturday’s party is at the Marrickville Town Hall, on the corner of Petersham and Marrickville Roads from 7pm until midnight.
