It’s official, the DIVAs for 2005 have started. Ripper Rita, I can hear you all say -¦ Monday night saw Stonewall’s public bar jam-packed with showgirls all eagerly waiting for any bit of gossip that would let them know more about this year’s DIVAs at Star City than the next showgirl. (They didn’t have to go to the launch -“ just get Cleo pissed and she will tell you everything.) As usual, the awards night is sort of cloaked with secrecy, with numerous surprises to get all the showgirls girlie with delight or bitching like a dirty polecat.
One thing that was unveiled on Monday night was the poster. This year the DIVA committee has decided on using four models for the 2005 campaign.
The styling was all done by double trouble themselves, Dallas Dellaforce and Versace. Now I am not sure what place they were taking the shots but I must say they are truly amazing. With Vanity Faire at the helm doing make-up and hair, really, how could they go wrong? Heaven, girls, heaven!
Choosing four totally different models, DIVA this year tried to involve everyone who is in the performing community.
Representing the D is our favourite singing showgirl Courtney Act, beautiful and blonde in an animal print -“ oh, and legs to die for!
Next cab off the rank is the letter I and who else better than drag king sex symbol himself Sexy Galexy? If any one has seen Sexy out and about, you would know he is one hot stud. Wait till you cop a load of Sexy’s DIVA poster. Let’s just say that this one is the type you would keep under your bed, just in case mum saw it while she was vacuuming.
Now our journey comes to V. Who else to play this part but the very sexy Penny Dee? Door moll at Arq, the home of this year’s DIVA after-party, Penny just drips sex appeal. I’m thinking maybe this year the DIVAs have made it a little too sexy.
And the next model is no exception -“ bringing up the rear with the letter A is none other than DIVA Hall of Fame winner Polly Petrie. With silky smooth ladies legs and nails to boot, this old girl proves Stella still has her groove.
I am sure you will all have a chance to have a look at the posters at some stage or another. But as Portia said, the only other thing they could have done was to have a fat chick on one. Oh well, better luck next year. This years DIVAs are on Monday 22 August and tickets go on sale today at Ticketek. Get your tickets today -“ they sell out straight away.
EYESPY For everyone who was concerned about the problems in London, Vanity Faire is okay. As many know the bombs went off at 8:30am, and Vanity doesn’t get up before 12. She is very safe -“ slept through the whole thing
