DJ Chip, who played at Sleaze last Saturday, gives us his top five tracks at the moment. You can also catch him at the Midnight Shift Club, Manacle, the Colombian, Stonewall and the new Sunday night party Flash at Mars Lounge.
The Mac has returned with this track that grabs you by the butt and gets your pulse pounding with sheer sex. The Stereogamous Extension featuring the vocals of Lenka pulsates with a blinding bass line that rips your soul to shreds (in the best possible way). Bound to be one of the tracks of the coming summer months, it’s original, gritty, subliminal and so very addictive.
ROUND AND ROUND
Amiel is one of those rare understated talents who should have the world crumbling to its knees, and this song has all the elements that go into making a hit. A gutsy, solid Australian production from a girl who has soul, rhythm and a voice as strong as a hurricane.
Unashamedly pure slammin’ disco, this corker sends everybody straight to the dancefloor with moves and grooves that will send any funkmeister into hands-in-the-air heaven. From whoa to go you get the sense that Faith Evans, with a little remix help from the Freemasons, wants to slam you in the nuts and spin you into the clouds above.
I’LL KILL YOU
Terry Grant feat.Jennifer Horne
This track that is powerfully progressive, hauntingly pretty and the type of song that just rolls and rolls. It’s the type of track that one can really lose oneself in on a dancefloor. Think Luke Leal at Arq on a Sunday. Beautiful to say the least.
SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE
Bon Johnson feat. Bon Cougar Mellencamp
So you want a bit of beat boppin’ electro to jump around the lounge room to? Then this is a cracker of a tune, you couldn’t ask for anything more solid from this genre, a deep funkin’ blower that trips it up on the way in. While I would say it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, it gets the other half of the population crankin’ madly with its cutting edge grooves.
