DJ Mandy Rollins, fresh from playing in the Hordern at Sleaze, gives us her favourite five tracks at the moment. Catch Mandy at Phoenix every Saturday, the Colombian Hotel on Friday, the Hellfire Club at Club 77 and Queer Nation.
Kobbe & Austin Leeds
Massive big-room tribal bomb alert! A pumping progressive vibe to rip the floor to shreds. Simple formula here but it works -“ pounding, stripped-down tribal beats, menacing synth hits and EFX, and a powerfully evil vocal from vocalist Oba Funke Lords (the guy from Murk’s Dark Beat). Essential stuff for any big-room action.
This track has the sexy vocal talents of Gay Joy backed by a superb blend of tech-house and progressive elements. You soon become drawn into the throbbing beat and let the vocal take you on many a trip.
Rivera & Trattner
Solid slab of the tribal gear from Rivera & Trattner. It’s got big beefy drums, striking, jaw-dropping synths and awesome sound effects that will rip right though you. This track will make you want to wiggle like never before.
Do you want to spank me and pull my hair? I don’t think so! But you may like to do this to someone else. This track is very cheeky and features a wicked analogue bass riff and a cheeky female spoken vocal on top of pumping tribal percussion.
THESE ARE THE DAYS
Quivver drop an underground throbber that will have the dancefloor junkies wrapped around its little finger. Blissful chord-driven melodies and incessant tribal grooves combine to do the do on this monster. This track was played early in my set at this year’s Sleaze.
