A protester at an American anti-same-sex marriage protest has called for homosexuals to be executed to stop them getting married.
Anti-gay protester Larry Adams brought a sign to a National Organisation for Marriage (NOM) protest in Indianapolis, Indiana, baring the slogan “The solution to gay marriage”, with an image of two nooses and a quote from the Bible:
“If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: the shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them”.
A film crew from the Courage Campaign Equality group interviewed Adams despite interrupions by protest organisers from the anti-gay rights NOM group.
Adams, of the Cross Bearer Ministry, Indianapolis, told the film crew, “If homosexuality was punished like it was supposed to be there wouldn’t be so much homosexuality out there.”
When asked how same-sex marriage would affect him, Adams cited the Old Testament story of Sodom and Gomorrah, implying that countries that legalised same-sex marriage might be punished in a similar way.
NOM is in the middle of a 23 city “Summer for Marriage Tour” of anti-same-sex marriage protests.
However most of the tour’s events so far have seen anti-gay protestors outnumbered by pro-same-sex marriage supporters – including at the Indiana protest where their 40 protesters were outnumbered by counter protesters at least five to one.
On the other side of the spectrum, a woman at the Indianapolis counter protest held up another sign reading, “Another straight Christian for Equal Rights for All”.
