It has been almost 4 weeks since we kicked off Stonewall’s Battle of the Bulge so I think it may be time for a quick update on how all our Battlers are going.

It was a huge task taken on not only by each entrant but by Gold’s Gym and the Battle of the Bulge trainer Matthew.

The BOTB is a contest that has 10 entrants trying to lose as much weight as they can (in a healthy way of course) in three months. They are provided with a gym trainer, nutritionist and a full Gold’s Gym membership for the duration of the competition.

Throughout the competition the contestants also are able to earn points, which are added for a final score at the end of the three months. There will be two opportunities for our Battlers to win prizes. The major winner is the person who loses the most weight and second prize will go to the Battler who earns the most points.

Now you have the rundown on the competition, you maybe asking how they are going. All the contestants have really been put through their paces with trainer Matthew.

With training sessions on almost every day, morning and night, mixing it up with indoor and outdoor activities, Matthew soon found out those who needed to be pushed a little more than others.

You may be querying the outdoor activities. It has been raining so much recently -“ surely they wouldn’t have had to run in the rain. The answer is yes, all outside training sessions are done rain or not, which makes catching the bus home that much more interesting.

We did have our first official weigh-in last Monday night, and to say there were surprises would have been an understatement. Battlers losing up to eight kilos had the crowd cheering with delight. All weight losses are calculated into a percentage to keep everything fair from contestant to contestant.

The Battle of the Bulge is on every Monday night at Stonewall Hotel from 8:30pm. Each week the audience is able to vote on their favourite Battler, and they can be awarded up to 10 points. So come along and support these Battlers doing one of the hardest things they could ever do in their lives.

Happy birthday to Diego from downstairs at the Midnight Shift. I’m sorry I missed announcing it on Saturday. Between boys who wouldn’t take their clothes off and lesbians who wouldn’t put them back on, it slipped my mind.

With all the hullabaloo going on downstairs, I was unable to make it up to the opening night of Queen’s new Kylie show last Saturday night. From all reports it was fabulous, but I promise to be front row for next week’s performance.

Speaking of Kylie shows, it is sad for me to announce that our Palace Singing Budgie show will finish this Saturday night, but will be relocated to Thursdays from the following week.
