Fresh thoughts sought on ACON

HIV/AIDS organisation ACON is calling for HIV-positive and LGBTI people in NSW to complete a survey evaluating the NSW body’s performance and recommend their direction for the future.

The anonymous survey, which was released earlier this month, asks responders to rate ACON’s work in lowering HIV transmission rates, providing support for people with HIV and looking after the general wellbeing and mental health of the LGBTI community, including for young people and sex workers.

ACON CEO Nicolas Parkhill said the survey was an important part of the support group’s determining its direction over the next few years.

“Every few years we review our strategic plan and talk to partner organisations, our staff, our funders, and the community about what kind of direction they think ACON should be taking,” Parkhill said.

“The findings from the survey will help us refocus our service from mid-2013 at least until 2016.”

ACON will release the findings of the survey and its other inquiries in a discussion paper later in the year. The survey can be accessed online until Friday January 25.
