Gay priests ban

Rumours are flying about a worldwide Catholic Church ban on gay men becoming priests now or in the future.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported this week Vatican sources had confirmed a directive would soon be issued refusing gay priests regardless of whether they were practising celibacy.

The directive is most likely a response to recent allegations of child sex abuse which have emerged from the US Catholic Church.
