Pastor Johnathan Jones (pictured) will be ordained within the Metropolitan Community Church Sydney this Saturday, making him one of the youngest ministers in the MCC worldwide. Jones, who is 22 years old, will be ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament after three years of service at the Petersham church, working primarily with young people. Reverend Greg Smith of the MCC Sydney told Sydney Star Observer the ordination was colossal news. This is a pivotal point in the life of MCC Sydney in that we are ordaining someone so young and so energetic and outwardly, openly gay and honest about who he is, Rev. Smith said of Jones, who recently completed a Bachelor of Theology. The ordination will take place at the church at 96 Crystal Street, Petersham, on Saturday 25 October at 7:30pm and everyone is invited. For more information, phone 9569 5122.
